Job Title:Project Manager

Objectives/Purpose of the Job

The Corporate System group is part of the centralized application support and delivery facility within the Client. This position reports to Director, Corporate Systems. The Project Manager is accountable for the delivery of projects (both Operational and Capital) in the Corporate Systems domain.

The Project Manager is responsible for leading a global cross-functional team within the Client IT (Solution Architects, IT Solution Providers, Testers, Build & Release Engineers, etc.) to deliver projects on time and on budget. This role also involves working with regional & offshore teams.

The Project Manager will be required to work within a Project Working Committee environment, generally consisting of Business Project Managers, IT Domain Project Managers, Networks Engineering Managers, and other senior operational personnel. As such, the Project Manager must exhibit a broad range of qualities in order to gain/maintain credibility and successfully lead our projects. The role is tasked with financial management and the associated reporting KPIs within the program team. Strong financial management skills are required to ensure financial budgets are managed effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills are mandatory for this role. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and customer management skills and will have previously managed small to medium cross-functional teams to deliver projects and programs.

  • Manage programs/projects on behalf of the Corporate Systems team
  • Develop, manage and improve stakeholder relations both internal and external
  • Use of project management artefacts to ensure effective outcomes such as:
  • Accuracy of estimating and forecasting
  • Delivery timelines and schedules are met
  • Adherence to quality standards
  • Lead in the identification of business impacts resulting from project implementation and proactively manage them
  • Support the Corporate Systems delivery team with appropriate resource, reporting, and financial management inputs
  • Deliver financial submissions and updates to sponsors and senior stakeholders in accordance with client project management processes
  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts and reconciliations against budget to ensure forecasting variance maintained within limits
  • Prepare resource plans and manage ongoing resource forecasts
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of the client's Project Management framework and contribute to the improvement of this framework with recommendations and suggestions
  • Lead and motivate a core team of cross-functional members from across Client to deliver the best possible project outcome. This role also involves managing offshore teams & vendors
  • Ensure a high standard and continuous development of market knowledge, business unit operations, consultative and presentation skills, education and experience relevant to the role

Must have

Tertiary qualifications in computer science or business

MBA qualification will be looked upon favourably

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years working experience with at least 4 years Project Manager experience in large projects
  • Vendor Management
  • Financial and Time management
  • Stakeholder management (e.g., Directors, GMs, Development Managers, etc.)
  • Program management experience encompassing multiple sub-projects.

Technical / Professional Skills

  • PMP or related Project Management certifications

Non-Technical / Soft Skills

  • Thorough understanding of the complete project management lifecycle and solution design
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, in dealing with staff and various multi-discipline groups and teams
  • Must be decisive, action-oriented, results-focused and able to work independently and manage concurrent projects
  • Show an ability to win the trust and respect of individuals and the group
  • Possess the ability to exercise independent and effective judgment
  • Ability to adapt ideas and behaviours when faced with conflicting or new information
  • Organisational Awareness: Understanding of the decision-making structure and cultural constraints within the organisation and capacity to influence management at all levels
  • Open Communication: Preparedness to express and share knowledge and views on a continual basis
  • Emphasise collaboration and the development of win/win partnerships; strong team player
  • Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Expert in project management tools like MS Project and related software
