A dynamic tech company seeks a visionary CTO to lead the development of an innovative Payroll SaaS product. This leadership role encompasses overseeing technical design, managing local compliance, and mentoring a growing development team, providing a unique opportunity to build and shape product architecture and technologies from the ground up.
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on CTO to lead the design, development, and scaling of a new Payroll SaaS product. This is an opportunity to build an entire system from the ground up—architecture, team, product, and infrastructure—in a lean, product-focused environment.
You’ll collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure the product is not only technically robust but also commercially viable and aligned with market needs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical design of the payroll system, including core engine (salary calculations, CPF/tax compliance, leave integration, etc.), security, and scalability.
Write high-quality code in the early phase, set development standards, and gradually build and mentor a technical team.
Ensure the system meets local statutory requirements (e.g., Singapore MOM, CPF, IRAS, etc.) and implements industry-standard data protection protocols.
Work closely with product and business teams to define and prioritize features based on customer needs and feedback.
Own infrastructure decisions (cloud providers, CI/CD pipelines, backup, monitoring).
Architect for future scale to support multiple countries or complex payroll structures.
Stay ahead of technological trends and ensure the tech stack is modern, secure, and efficient.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or CTO role.
Proven experience building and deploying B2B SaaS products (preferably HR or FinTech systems).
Strong backend engineering skills (Node.js, Python, or similar).
Solid understanding of local payroll processes.
Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), and APIs.
Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive both technical and business outcomes.
Prior experience building a payroll or HRMS product
Knowledge of financial/payroll integration APIs (banks, IRAS, CPF, QuickBooks, etc.)
Strong UX sensibility for internal admin tools
