Job description

The IT Infrastructure Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the management, operation, and continuous improvement of the company’s IT infrastructure, including on-premise systems, cloud environments, network, and security services. This role provides leadership and technical expertise to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance of IT infrastructure while supporting the business growth and technology strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Operations & Support

  • Manage daily IT infrastructure operations to ensure service stability and availability.
  • Lead the resolution of Tier 2/3 technical issues and incidents.
  • Provide 24x7 standby support for critical systems and business operations as needed.
  • Administer and optimize servers, storage, virtualization platforms, cloud services, and network systems.
  • Perform proactive monitoring, system maintenance, firmware upgrades, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Assist in managing the IT infrastructure team, providing guidance, mentoring, and skill development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure projects and technology solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues.

Infrastructure Planning & Improvement

  • Participate in infrastructure design, capacity planning, and modernization initiatives.
  • Support the development and execution of IT infrastructure strategies aligned with business needs.
  • Recommend enhancements for system reliability, scalability, and performance optimization.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure infrastructure security compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
  • Lead implementation of security measures including firewall management, access control, endpoint protection, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date documentation.

Governance & IT Service Management

  • Implement IT service management (ITSM) processes, including incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
  • Maintain detailed IT infrastructure documentation, including data flow diagrams, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor SLA compliance, analyze recurring issues, and drive service improvements.

Project Management & Procurement

  • Plan and execute IT infrastructure projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Coordinate hardware/software procurement, vendor management, and license renewals.
  • Assist in IT budget planning, cost control, and resource optimization.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with business units and other IT teams to align infrastructure services with organizational objectives.
  • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including periodic DR drills.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, network, and security roles, with 2+ years in leadership or project lead positions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Windows Server, Linux Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP.
  • VMWare vSphere, vSAN, vCenter, NSX-T or equivalent virtualization platforms.
  • Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Cloud, AWS.
  • Network infrastructure: LAN, WAN, VLAN, SDWAN, VPN, firewall management.
  • Security tools: antivirus, patch management, vulnerability management, SIEM.
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with ITSM/ITIL processes and best practices (certifications preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience supporting audit and regulatory compliance is an advantage.
  • Standard business hours with occasional travel, on-call rotation for 24x7, and after-hours availability for critical support and projects.
