Position: IT Engineer / Senior IT Engineer (New Position)

Department: Technical Specialist (Cable)

Location: Singapore

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the company’s IT functions, ensuring smooth operations across onshore and offshore environments. Key responsibilities include:

1. Align IT initiatives with business objectives and strategic goals.

2. Provide daily IT operations and disaster recovery processes.

3. Ensure optimal returns on IT investments by applying industry best practices across systems, networks, and communications.

4. Manage, maintain, and support server and network infrastructure, including:

   • Setup and maintenance of servers, storage, and network equipment

   • Backup and data recovery operations

   • Antivirus updates and patch management

   • Software licensing and hardware inventory upkeep

   • Daily monitoring of server logs and issue pre-emption

5. Enforce processes and standards for the installation and maintenance of desktop systems, servers, applications, and email platforms.

6. Manage, create, and troubleshoot user mailboxes.

7. Maintain the web server and update web content as required.

8. Support business continuity and recovery plans in the event of system disruptions.

9. Provide IT help desk support to office staff and crew onboard vessels.

10. Develop, review, and implement IT policies and procedures.

11. Ensure physical and cyber security policies are in place and enforced.

12. Develop and maintain IT documentation and operating procedures.

13. Evaluate and recommend IT equipment and services, liaising with vendors for procurement.

14. Propose technical solutions that align with both immediate and long-term business needs, ensuring compliance with technical and security standards.

15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head, Technical Specialist (Cable)

16. Support project implementations when required.

17. Escalate complex issues to senior team members when necessary.

18. Maintain accurate IT asset inventory (hardware and software).

19. Oversee IT procurement processes.

20. Attend to vessel IT issues when vessels are in port (Singapore).

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related fields

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in managing IT infrastructure, network services, and IT security

• ITIL Foundation and CCNA certification preferred

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments (including servers, Exchange, and Office Suite)

• Familiarity with maritime satellite communication systems (e.g., VSAT, FBB, Iridium) is an advantage

• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment

• Highly organized with attention to detail
