Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Singapore is seeking a Database Administrator to install, upgrade, and patch database systems, diagnose issues, manage access and backups, and ensure security compliance. The role supports manufacturing and engineering databases and participates in DR/BC planning and on-call support.

You will optimize performance, monitor metrics, and create dashboards while collaborating with site customers. Strong SQL, Java, PowerShell, and Python skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or related fields, or equivalent experience.
• Good understanding and hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Databases, Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Programming and scripting languages such as Java, PowerShell and Python.
• Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools.
• Effective oral and written communication with strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade database systems, apply patches and implement changes when required.
• Diagnose and resolve database errors ensuring high availability of database systems.
• Manage databases access, backups and ensure compliance with database and security standards.
• Perform changes to critical databases related to manufacturing and engineering.
• Support incident, request, change, and problem management tasks associated with database operations.
• Ensure SLA for incidents and service requests are met with high quality of work.
• Ensure on-call support, including outside of office hours.
• Plan, execute, and validate disaster recovery exercises, failover testing, and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity readiness.
• Collaborate with site customers on new database requirements, problem resolution and data flow requests.
• Performance tuning of databases to ensure high performance and availability.
• Monitor database performance proactively and perform analysis of cases to prevent recurring issues.
• Review and enhance database monitoring when required.
• Develop processes and operation procedures related to database operations.
• Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
• Engineer solutions and automations to improve productivity and efficiency of database operations and reliability and availability of the database systems.
• Identify recurring operational challenges, perform trend analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve service reliability and reduce incidents.
• Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
• Participate in worldwide collaboration for technical sharing and reference architecture alignment.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
