The IT Engineer/IT BP is responsible for managing and supporting the IT infrastructure, ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. This role provides IT support over the phone and in person to non-technical end-users and performs basic device support independently. It involves installing, assessing, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading computers and equipment of various types. The engineer will fulfill customer requests, resolve technical problems, and respond to customer questions in a timely and professional manner. Building relationships with employees and providing exceptional customer service are key aspects of this role.

The IT Business Partner (ITBP) serves as the strategic interface between the IT department and other business units. The ITBP is responsible for understanding the business needs, ensuring that IT services align with business objectives, and driving the delivery of technology solutions that enhance business performance. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, and strong communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
  2. Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex IT issues, serving as an escalation point for junior IT staff.
  3. Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  4. Manage and monitor security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems, to protect the organization's IT assets.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide solutions that align with business objectives.
  6. Plan and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  7. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing new solutions to improve IT services.
  8. Provide IT user support using standard screens, scripts, reference guides, and procedures while completing ongoing training to deepen skillset.
  9. Interview users to collect information about problems and lead them through diagnostic procedures to determine the source of errors. Troubleshoot and resolve technical support questions professionally.
  10. Image PCs, install software, and peripheral equipment.
  11. Provide first-level network administration support, including creating user accounts, assisting in file restores, maintaining passwords, increasing user space, and providing rights to some areas.
  12. Update assigned tickets with the latest status and continuously communicate with necessary parties, including providing follow-up to the user on the status of the problem until resolution.
  13. Escalate incidents and service requests to next level support if the issue cannot be resolved.
  14. Work on incident response and resolution targets in an Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) environment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  15. Act as the primary liaison between IT and assigned business units.
  16. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business units.
  17. Facilitate regular meetings with business leaders to discuss IT performance, upcoming projects, and strategic initiatives.
  18. Serve as a trusted advisor to business units on technology trends and opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Required: 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management and support.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management and support, with a focus on enterprise environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Required:

    • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, storage, and virtualization technologies.
    • Strong understanding of IT security principles and practices.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of standard business desktop software and hardware.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical support questions of customers in a professional manner.
    • Experience with PC or network administration.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and perform well under pressure.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred:

    • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
    • Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CCNP, or MCSE.
    • Experience with troubleshooting in a Windows environment.
    • Self-motivated and well-organized; possesses both the initiative to work individually and contributes appropriately to working as part of a team.
    • Experience in a business partner or relationship management role is preferred.

Work Environment:

  • The IT Engineer will work in an office environment but may be required to travel to other company locations as needed.
  • May be required to work outside of regular business hours to perform maintenance or respond to emergencies.
