Job Description & Requirements
IT Disaster Recovery Manager
We’re looking for a proactive and strategic thinker to drive enterprise-wide technology continuity in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. This is more than a traditional disaster recovery function — it’s about embedding resilience at the core of IT operations and enabling rapid recovery under pressure.
As IT Continuity & Recovery Manager, you’ll be the go-to expert for designing and maintaining enterprise recovery capabilities. You'll lead readiness efforts, steer cross-functional testing programs, and align practices with internal risk policies and external regulatory mandates. Your work ensures that when the unexpected strikes — the business keeps moving.
Key Responsibilities
Set the Continuity Vision
- Define a clear and actionable IT continuity strategy that spans infrastructure, platforms, and applications.
- Create modular, scenario-based recovery plans suited to a hybrid tech environment — integrating both cloud services and on-prem systems.
- Ensure all business-critical functions have adequate safeguards for continuity and are mapped to resilient infrastructure.
Operationalise & Test Resilience
- Plan and execute end-to-end technology recovery simulations, DR drills, and failover testing.
- Benchmark system and application readiness against RTO and RPO thresholds.
- Analyse test outcomes and initiate enhancements that close recovery gaps and reduce risk exposure.
Compliance, Governance & Reporting
- Interpret and implement MAS TRM guidelines and equivalent frameworks into recovery protocols.
- Act as the technical lead for ITDR in audits, regulator engagements, and internal reviews.
- Prepare accurate documentation that reflects current readiness status, including recovery architecture, processes, and dependencies.
Stakeholder Alignment
- Work closely with BCM, infrastructure leads, application teams, and business SMEs to ensure recovery planning is embedded in daily operations.
- Review and refresh BIAs and CIAs regularly to keep plans responsive to evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure external service providers meet internal DR requirements.
Ongoing Risk Management
- Continuously monitor for resilience gaps, potential failure points, or new threats to continuity.
- Conduct after-action reviews following incidents or exercises, ensuring key takeaways are actioned and tracked.
- Provide senior leadership with recovery metrics, capability updates, and maturity roadmaps.
Who We’re Looking For
- 5 to 8 years of proven experience in disaster recovery, IT service continuity, or technology risk management.
- Deep familiarity with hybrid IT ecosystems, including cloud infrastructure, backup solutions, and replication technologies.
- Strong grasp of regulatory frameworks (e.g., MAS TRM, ISO 22301) and how to operationalise them in complex tech environments.
- Experienced in DR test orchestration, stakeholder management, and recovery optimisation.
- Strong communicator, structured in documentation, and analytical in approach — with a balance of tactical execution and strategic foresight.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Professional certifications in resilience or continuity such as CBCP, ITIL, or ISO 22301 are preferred.
