Job description

About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of a leading pharmaceutical company with a state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Tuas, Singapore. The company is looking for a Deputy Manager, IT Automation Platforms who will take ownership of the plant's IT automation infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted support for manufacturing, labs, and other GxP-regulated environments.

This role is pivotal in maintaining high system availability, ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, and driving forward infrastructure modernization across the site.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and global IT to deliver robust, compliant, and efficient automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage IT automation infrastructure across the manufacturing site - including networks, servers, firewalls, and storage systems.
  • Ensure 24/7 system uptime and readiness for disaster recovery aligned with pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements.
  • Maintain and operate the server room and core infrastructure supporting plant and lab systems.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct troubleshooting, and coordinate timely resolutions to minimize production disruptions.
  • Ensure IT systems comply with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity regulations.
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies per corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in audits (internal and external) and provide technical documentation for validation and compliance.
  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and managed services.
  • Support procurement and full lifecycle management of infrastructure and automation assets.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure IT systems align with operational needs.
  • Lead IT automation platform projects - from upgrades and patching to technology transitions - in line with change control protocols.
  • Support broader digital transformation initiatives within the plant.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in IT automation and infrastructure management, ideally within pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of GxP, CSV, data integrity, and regulatory requirements for IT systems.
  • Hands-on experience with systems supporting MES, LIMS, QMS, and ERP platforms.
  • Technical proficiency in VMware/Hyper-V, Cisco/HP/Aruba networking, and enterprise storage & backup solutions.
  • Strong project leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards, cloud platforms, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 plant operations and validated environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or CISSP are a plus.
