Job Responsibilities:
IP Advisory & Prosecution:
Manage clients’ trademark portfolios, including filing, prosecuting, and maintaining trademark applications up to grant.
Coordinate international trademark filings and ensure compliance with global IP regulations, with particular focus on China.
Advise clients on IP strategies, courses of action, and associated costs.
Review Examination Reports and draft responses to Office Actions.
Conduct trademark searches and provide clear, actionable opinions to clients.
Update, maintain, and monitor deadlines for file-related matters.
Generate standard correspondence, draft invoices, and handle ad hoc tasks.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Business Development:
Actively support and drive business development initiatives targeting the Chinese market, strengthening relationships with Chinese-speaking clients and associates.
Identify, initiate, and pursue business opportunities in Greater China, including organizing events, webinars, or collaborations with local IP firms to increase the firm’s market visibility.
Participate in marketing activities to promote the firm’s IP services.
Travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, or cross-border collaboration, particularly related to the Chinese market.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Degree in Law or completion of the Certificate of Intellectual Property (GCIP) course. Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., law degree) or relevant industry experience are advantageous.
Minimum 3 years of experience in trademark prosecution. Experience or familiarity with the Chinese trademark system, including working knowledge of CNIPA processes, would be highly advantageous.
Proficiency in English (verbal and written) is required. Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) is highly preferred to support multilingual client engagements.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, particularly with experience engaging stakeholders based in China.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with IP portfolio management systems (e.g., WebTMS, IPfolio, DIAMS) is preferred.
Resourceful problem-solver with a collaborative mindset and positive attitude.
Interest in contributing to practice growth and client relationship management.
