Job description

We are looking for a passionate and intellectually curious Investment Analyst with 1 to 3 years of experience to join our lean and collaborative investment team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis, primarily focused on the industrial and rare earth metals sectors, while also contributing to the evaluation of opportunities across our broader portfolio. This is a unique opportunity for a self-starter to gain broad exposure and make a tangible impact within a dynamic family office environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct bottom-up fundamental research on global commodity markets, with a primary focus on industrial metals (e.g., copper, lithium, cobalt) and rare earth elements.
  • Evaluate both public market securities (equity, credit) and private/direct investment opportunities in the target sectors.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models, including supply/demand models, valuation analyses (DCF, comparable company analysis), and forecasting.
  • Monitor and analyze industry news, macroeconomic trends, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes affecting the metals and mining sectors.
  • Gather and interpret data from various sources, including company reports, industry publications, government data, and expert networks.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise research reports, investment memos, and presentations
  • Support the ongoing monitoring and performance tracking of existing portfolio positions.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of professional experience in financial market research.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a proven ability to build detailed financial models in Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrable passion for financial markets and a deep intellectual curiosity.
  • Proficiency with financial data terminals such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, or FactSet.
  • A high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality is paramount.
  • Proactive and self-starting attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin. Ability to write, read and communicate in Chinese would be preferred to be able to communicate with the relevant stakeholders who are Chinese speaking.
