Job summary

BHP Group invites you to the 6-month Commercial Internship Programme in Singapore, offering hands-on experience in metals and energy trade. You will support shipments, market analysis, and dashboard reporting, gaining exposure to global commodities and trading strategies.

Ideal candidates are pursuing commerce, economics, engineering or business degrees with strong analytics, collaboration and ownership mindset.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate/postgraduate student pursuing a degree in commerce, economics, engineering or business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to conceptualize complex and/or ambiguous business problems and their associated impacts.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, analytical mindset, and a sense of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Support global trade of metals and energy commodities (e.g., iron ore, copper, coal), including physical cargoes and related financial derivatives.
  • Assist with scheduling and optimisation of physical commodity shipments and trading book management.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trade signals and opportunities; analyse data, draw insights, and support strategic commercial projects.
  • Develop and optimise marketing and book optimisation strategies, delivering tangible outcomes for the business.
  • Build and enhance performance dashboards and reporting (e.g., Power BI/Excel) to support decision-making and track team performance.
  • Communicate insights, progress, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and incorporate feedback.
