Job summary

BHP is offering a 6‑month Commercial Internship in Singapore to gain real‑world experience in global commodities trading. You’ll work with a dynamic team, supporting trade execution, market analysis, and performance reporting while developing a solid understanding of international supply chains.

Ideal candidates are pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies in commerce, economics, engineering, or business, with strong analytical and collaborative skills.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to conceptualize complex business problems.
• Strong collaboration, communication and ownership mindset.
• Current undergraduate or postgraduate student in commerce, economics, engineering or business.

Responsibilities

• Support global trade of metals and energy commodities (e.g., iron ore, copper, coal), including physical cargoes and related derivatives.
• Assist with scheduling and optimisation of physical commodity shipments and trading book management.
• Conduct market analysis to identify trade signals and opportunities; analyse data, draw insights, and support strategic commercial projects.
• Develop and optimise marketing and book optimisation strategies, delivering tangible outcomes for the business.
• Build and enhance performance dashboards and reporting (Power BI/Excel) to support decision-making and track team performance.
• Communicate insights, progress, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and incorporate feedback.
