Job summary

Sembcorp Industries Ltd in Singapore seeks a Sustainability Intern to support ESG reporting, data collection, and digital transformation projects within Integrated Urban Solutions.

You will collaborate with the Sustainability Reporting team to improve processes, analyze metrics, and prepare presentations, with exposure to AI-enabled tools and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• Background in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in sustainability, ESG reporting, digital transformation, and process improvement.
• Good analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and presentations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with AI tools, data analytics, or digital productivity tools is an advantage.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support sustainability data collection, review, and analysis of internal sustainability data and metrics.
• Assist in improving sustainability reporting workflows through structured data management, process mapping, quality checks, documentation, and use of digital or AI-enabled tools.
• Conduct research on sustainability, ESG trends, regulatory developments, industry benchmarks, and peer or competitor practices to support business and reporting needs.
• Support the development of presentation decks, management updates, case studies, briefing materials, and summaries on sustainability strategies, initiatives, market practices, and business impacts.
• Contribute to process optimization projects by helping to identify workflow gaps, streamline manual tasks, and propose practical improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and auditability.
• Assist in the use of AI tools for research synthesis, data checking, content drafting, process documentation, and analysis, while applying appropriate review and quality control.
• Prepare case studies and concise summaries on sustainability activities, implementation approaches, and emerging solutions that may support future business models or sustainability product development.
• Assist in developing ideas, models, and practical solutions to strengthen work delivery quality, stakeholder communication, and sustainability-related business outcomes.
• Participate in team discussions and cross-functional coordination to understand how sustainability objectives are translated into practical actions across business units.

Key Roles And Responsibilities

The intern will gain hands-on exposure to sustainability strategy, ESG reporting, digital transformation, and process excellence through real-world business projects. The role will provide opportunities to support the development, review, and operationalization of sustainability-related business processes, including data collection, analysis, stakeholder engagement, presentation development, and the use of AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and quality of work.

The intern will work closely with the Sustainability Reporting team to support sustainability reporting and initiatives across the urban development and business unit context. The role is suitable for candidates who are keen to understand how sustainability, digital tools, and business processes come together to support organizational goals.
