Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a data analytics-focused intern/co-op to develop digital tools for equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory management in Singapore laboratory operations.

You will analyze data to recommend improvements and support end-to-end inventory processes, including vendor quotes, purchasing, and disposal of chemicals. You will maintain 5S inventory practices and learn site contractor management for lab vendors, collaborating with stakeholders to drive safety,

Qualifications

• B.Sc in Science/Engineering or related computing & data analysis.
• Strong oral and written communication.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Power BI/Power Apps preferred.
• Programming language skills are a plus.
• Positive attitude, self-motivated and team player.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain digital tools to improve calibration/maintenance efficiency and inventory management in Singapore lab operations.
• Use data analytics to analyze and suggest improvements for equipment performance and inventory needs.
• End-to-end management of inventory: quotes, purchasing, receiving, storage and disposal of chemicals and consumables.

Job description

Job responsibility

Develop, implement and maintain digital tools to improve efficiency of equipment calibration/maintenance and inventory management process within Singapore laboratory operations. Using data analytics concept/tools to analyse and recommend improvement for equipment performance and inventory demand and supply needs. Participate in end-to-end management of laboratory inventory, including quotation request from vendors, purchasing, receiving and storage, inventory monitoring and disposal of used/expired chemicals and other laboratory consumables. Maintain laboratory inventory stores with good 5S practices. Understand laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance requirement and ensure release of equipment for use within the stipulated due date. Learn and apply site contractor management requirement for laboratory vendors. Actively participate in logistical arrangement with the laboratories and vendors to enable timely equipment calibration/maintenance. Ensure end-to-end management of archival, retrieval and disposal of pharmaceutical retain samples. Practice Safety and cGMP according to site/global procedures and relevant regulations. Close collaboration with the stakeholders to identify and execute safety, quality and productivity improvement opportunities. Develop, update and maintain Power BI and any other computer applications to improve work processes. Perform data analysis and present data to Quality leadership team.

Job Requirements

B.Sc in Science/Engineering or Relevant major/minor in computing & data analysis Effective oral and written communication skills Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power App and Power BI). Added advantage for candidates with programming language skills. Positive attitude and enthusiastic Self-motivated and Sense of responsibility Good interpersonal skills / Team Player
