Job summary

The Ministry of National Development is seeking a Business and Finance Analytics intern as part of its finance transformation journey. You will redesign budget and payment workflows, support data management and transformation, and explore AI-driven analytics to strengthen governance and decision making.

You will prototype AI applications for EVOLVE Finance II, develop dashboards and interactive reports, and translate stakeholder needs into actionable insights while maintaining high data quality

Job description

What the role is:

As part of MND Finance's broader finance transformation journey, we are taking a fresh look at our end-to-end budget-to-pay processes — with the goal of building more efficient, data-driven, and future-ready financial management capabilities. As a Business and Finance Analytics intern, you will be involved in redesigning existing budget and payment workflows, supporting data management and transformation, and leveraging on AI and data analytics to streamline processes, strengthen decision making and enhance governance for Finance.

In addition, you will also have the opportunity to be at the forefront of emerging technologies via the prototyping of AI applications for EVOLVE Finance II. This will be an ideal role for someone who is intellectually curious, and excited by the idea of using data and technology to drive tangible improvements in public finance.

What you will be working on:

The responsibilities for this role include:

• Translating the business needs of Finance's stakeholders into actionable insights, and analyzing end-to-end finance workflows to identify pain points and surface opportunities for meaningful process improvement
• Leveraging on Government AI tools and platforms to prototype/ develop technical solutions for suitable finance use cases (eg. Ask-Finance bot for payment-related queries, streamlining of budget workflows etc.), and scaling for rollout across MND-Family
• Contributing to the creation of a reliable, unified source of truth by consolidating and enriching various finance datasets to enable deeper and more meaningful financial analysis, combined with clear documentation of data practices and workflows.
• Developing dashboards, interactive reports, and AI-powered financial analyses that transform raw data into compelling, actionable insights for decision-making

What we are looking for:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with different stakeholders and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner
• Meticulous and detail-oriented, to support data management and documentation of data practices and workflows
• Prior experience and/or knowledge in AI, data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g. Python, Tableau, Power BI, or other data/automation tools)(Non-mandatory, but would be advantageous)
• Prior coursework or experience in finance, accounting, data analytics, IT/ computer science or a related field
• Prior experience and/or knowledge in business process re-design and automation
• Knowledge of best practices in data architecture and data management.
