Job summary

MINDEF is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its intelligence organization. The role focuses on governance, rights, liabilities, and risk management within a fast-moving environment.

Candidates must be Singapore Citizens with a law degree and PQE of at least three years in private practice, in-house, or public service, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

The position is full-time and aligned with national security needs.

Qualifications

• Must be Singaporean and hold a law degree with qualification to practice in Singapore or another jurisdiction.
• Minimum of three years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in private practice, in-house, or the Singapore Public Service.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities; meticulous attention to legal accuracy; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Security and Intelligence Division (SID) on legal rights, liabilities, and risks, including HR and contractual matters.
• Provide guidance on relevant comparative, corporate/commercial, administrative, and international law.
• Advise on internal policies and organizational practices.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis.
