Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the patch management lifecycle, ensuring timely deployment of security patches and updates to maintain system security, performance, and service availability.
- Coordinate and oversee all systems engineering patching activities for customer server operating systems, following agreed schedules and compliance standards.
- Create, publish, and maintain the patch deployment calendar, ensuring alignment with business and technical stakeholders.
- Supervise the daily operations of the IT Patch Management team, providing guidance, promoting collaboration, and ensuring adherence to operational standards.
- Oversee and validate the execution of patch deployments, actively monitoring progress and mitigating issues to ensure minimal impact to business operations.
- Ensure efficient and compliant execution of all patching activities through effective task delegation, monitoring, and escalation management.
- Collaborate with internal teams (IT, InfoSec, infrastructure, applications), vendors, and business units to gather requirements, communicate patch schedules, and address security or compliance concerns.
- Engage in incident response planning and lead investigations related to unpatched vulnerabilities or patch-related failures.
- Apply project management practices to ensure timely delivery of infrastructure build and patch projects, including risk and resource management.
- Analyze and present monthly and quarterly compliance reports, identifying and addressing patching gaps or deviations.
- Participate in patch review meetings and coordinate scheduling and execution of the patching calendar.
- Prioritize and manage patching and maintenance windows in agreement with change management and business availability requirements.
- Ensure SLA compliance for all patching and infrastructure operations activities.
- Provide proactive and preventive support, anticipating and mitigating risks before they impact production.
- Be hands-on and available to support critical patching activities on weekends or off-business hours, as needed.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Minimum 8 years of relevant IT infrastructure experience, with strong exposure to patch management and infrastructure support.
- Hands-on expertise in RedHat Linux, middleware, database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MariaDB), and container platforms (e.g., OpenShift).
- Experience with infrastructure patching tools such as RedHat Satellite, BigFix, SCCM, or similar.
- Familiarity with issue and task tracking systems such as Jira.
- Solid understanding of data center operations, system hardening standards, and security compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in leading a team of 6–10 engineers across onsite/offshore models.
- Strong knowledge of server operating systems, infrastructure builds, and the patching lifecycle (including vulnerability management and remediation).
- Experience in managed services or IT consulting environments is an advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in high-pressure environments, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks.
