At Singapore Airlines’ Digital Innovation Lab (KrisLab), we drive impactful digital innovation by experimenting with new digital solutions in collaboration with our employees across Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group, Business Units (BUs), IT teams, startups/scaleups, research partners. Our mission is to drive the growth of digital innovation culture and create competitive advantages by solving business problems and leveraging new and emerging technologies. We are seeking a passionate and driven Digital Innovation Technologist to contribute across the following three key domains and any other roles/responsibilities as assigned by the department manager from time to time:

1)Core Digital Innovation Projects and Activities

2)Research & Development (R&D)

3)Innovation Partnerships

This is a high-ownership role that blends strategic thinking, hands-on execution and cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management. You will work on initiatives from idea to validation and partner with internal teams and/or external collaborators to unlock new capabilities and bring values for Singapore Airlines.

Key Responsibilities

1)Core Digital Innovation Projects and Activities

•Collaborate with BUs and IT teams to identify new opportunities for experimentations leading to impactful business results.

•Scope and lead innovation projects, including rapid prototyping, Proof-of-Concepts (POCs), pilots and working with stakeholders to support implementation

•Work with internal stakeholders and/or external innovative solution providers to test, validate, assess outcomes, drive process to make timely decisions on these experimentation opportunities

•Support transition of successful pilots into implementation

2)Research and Development Projects

•Lead end-to-end management of R&D collaborations with universities (e.g. NUS) and research institutions (e.g. A*STAR), as well as other potential R&D partners and collaborators

•Align project goals and scope with BUs’ needs and research partners’ capabilities

•Manage stakeholders, track milestones, manage budgets and handle project reporting

•Structure and drive long-term R&D initiatives to support strategic innovation ambitions

3)Innovation Partnerships

•Build and manage relationships across the open innovation ecosystem, including startups, scaleups, venture capitals, trade and government agencies, tech companies etc. globally.

•Scout and evaluate external solutions best-fit to address SIA’s business challenges

•Support innovative solution sourcing for the SIA Accelerator programme and other co-innovation efforts.

Requirements

•2-4 years of relevant experience in innovation, project development, R&D project management, or startup/tech engagement

•Strong stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills

•Demonstrated ability in managing cross-functional or external-facing projects across levels

•Comfortable working with ambiguity and driving clarity through structured and strategic thinking

•Background in science, engineering, business or tech preferred

•Preference for candidate who has the following experiences, mindset and habits

oWorking with research institutions or managing grant-funding projects

oExposure to startup ecosystems, accelerators or open innovation platforms

oFamiliarity with agile experimentation, design thinking or lean startup principles

oBeing AI (artificial intelligence) native – top of mind to use AI / Generative AI as “co-worker” from planning to execution of tasks and projects
