Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and implement Early Years Development Framework for infants to meet their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth needs.

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for infants.

  • Attend to the basic needs of infants, including feeding, diaper changing, and nap times ensuring their physical comfort and well-being.

  • Create age-appropriate activities and experiences that promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of infants. This may include sensory exploration, tummy time and interactive play.

  • Observe and document the developmental progress of each infant, noting milestones and any concerns. Communicate observations to parents/guardians and collaborate with colleagues to address individual needs.

  • Keep a comprehensive portfolio of each infant and provide input on the infant’s development to the parent.

  • Maintain open and regular communication with parents/guardians, providing updates on their child’s activities, development, and any concerns. Establish a trusting and collaborative relationship with families.

  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, include proper sanitation practices, safe sleep guidelines and emergency procedures. Monitor the health and well-being of infants and respond promptly to any signs of distress or illness.

  • Work collaboratively with other educators and staff members to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Share ideas, resources, and strategies for enhancing the quality of care and education provided to infants.

  • Stay informed about the best practices in infant care and early childhood education. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

  • Respect and celebrate the diversity of families and communities served by the child care centre. Create an inclusive environment that values and respects each child’s unique background, culture and abilities.

  • Report suspected abuse cases to Principal.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care or equivalent

  • WSQ Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Education

  • Certified by Early Childhood and Development Agency (ECDA) at EY1 category

  • Experience in handling infants

  • Good verbal communication skills
