Job Description

The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in vocal and/or instrumental music across Hindustani, Carnatic, and regional traditions, teaching both theory and practical aspects such as swaras, ragas, talas, compositions, and improvisation.

The role involves developing students’ singing and instrumental skills (e.g., tabla, sitar, harmonium, mridangam, flute), tailoring methods to varied learning needs, and preparing them for school programs, cultural events, examinations, and competitions.

The teacher contributes to curriculum development with a focus on Indian traditions, integrates music with other art forms, maintains lesson records, and mentors students aspiring for professional training or certifications.

Additionally, the teacher directs rehearsals for assemblies and festivals, fosters creativity and confidence, collaborates with other faculty, maintains instruments, communicates student progress to parents, stays updated with contemporary music trends, and actively participates in staff meetings, workshops, and professional development.
