Job summary

NTU invites applications for a Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Sing Yian Chew and Prof. Shawn Je.

The successful candidate will contribute to neural tissue engineering, in vivo spinal cord injury models, and regenerative biomaterials. The role involves conducting in vivo experiments with rodent SCI models, microsurgical implantation, behavioural assessments and imaging, with data analysis and manuscript preparation in collaboration with NTU and international

Qualifications

• Master’s in biomedical engineering, neuroscience, or related discipline.
• Experience handling rodents and performing behavioral tests.
• Experience in animal surgery, preferably SCI microsurgery.
• Hands-on experience with immunofluorescence, histology, and confocal imaging.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in vivo experiments using rat SCI models.
• Assist microsurgical procedures, cell/scaffold implantation, and behavioral evaluations.
• Carry out tract tracing, immunofluorescent and histochemical staining and confocal imaging.
• Assist in data analysis, interpretation of experimental outcomes, and preparation of manuscripts for publication.
• Supervise and train junior researchers and contribute to laboratory management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary collaborations within and beyond NTU.
