Job description

In-house Legal Counsel (Construction)

Benefits Summary:

• Permanent Role

• Basic up to $8500 + Performance bonus

• Monday – Friday 8am-5pm

• Central Region / Onsite (East Region)

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to ensure legal soundness, compliance, and alignment with business goals

• Advise on legal structures (e.g., JVs, SPVs) and ensure regulatory compliance across jurisdictions

• Mitigate legal and contractual risks through strategic planning and risk assessments

• Manage licenses, permits, and regulatory approvals for project execution

• Resolve contractual disputes and support legal proceedings (claims, arbitration, litigation)

• Provide legal guidance to internal teams and ensure stakeholder understanding of contract obligations

• Collaborate across departments for cohesive contract management and legal compliance

• Liaise with external legal counsel as needed and manage legal service engagements

• Maintain accurate contract documentation and support policy development for legal governance

• Conduct legal briefings and training for internal stakeholders

• Handle ad hoc legal tasks and projects as assigned by management

Additional Information:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house (preferably in the construction industry)

• Deep knowledge and understanding of construction laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks in Singapore

• Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of other languages, such as Malay or Mandarin, is advantageous to effectively communicate with Malay or Mandarin-speaking clients.

• Strong negotiation, contract drafting and analytical skills, solution-oriented and a commercial mind with an eye for detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
