Job Summary
The Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Engineer plans, analyses, and delivers logistics engineering activities for complex defence and engineering systems to ensure design supportability, minimize life-cycle costs, and maximize system availability.
Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and execute ILS Plans and related documentation aligned with project requirements and defence standards
- Define and manage supportability requirements for incorporation into system design and development
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, operations, and customer stakeholders to align ILS deliverables with project milestones
- Support contract deliverables and compliance audits for ILS outputs
- Perform detailed Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), and Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) to optimize maintenance strategies
- Conduct Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to inform support strategies and improve system reliability
- Develop and maintain Logistic Support Analysis Records (LSARs) compliant with DEF STAN 00-60x or MIL-STD-1388 standards
- Provide supportability inputs during system design reviews to optimize through-life cost and availability
- Support RAM modelling and simulation to predict system performance and availability
- Analyse reliability growth data and provide actionable feedback to design teams for system improvement
- Apply maintainability principles during design and support phases to enhance system sustainment
- Define spares provisioning, test equipment, ground support equipment, tools, and facilities required for system operation and sustainment
- Prepare Provisioning Data Lists (PDL), Spares Parts Lists (SPL), and Recommended Spare Parts Lists (RSPL) to support logistics planning
- Conduct Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Through-Life Support (TLS) analyses to inform sustainment strategies
- Develop and maintain Technical Publications, Maintenance Manuals, User Handbooks, and Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC) in compliance with S1000D or customer-specific requirements
- Support preparation of training materials and courseware for operators and maintainers
- Manage ILS data integrity using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or ILS tools
- Monitor obsolescence risks and propose mitigation strategies to maintain system supportability
- Ensure configuration control of logistics deliverables throughout the project life cycle
- Liaise with customer representatives, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of ILS outputs
- Provide ILS input to bids, proposals, and project status reviews to support business development and project execution
- Support acceptance, verification, and validation of ILS deliverables to meet contractual and customer requirements
Required competencies and certifications
- Strong knowledge of ILS standards and frameworks including DEF STAN 00-600 series, MIL-STD-1388, S3000L, and S1000D. (Internal training will be provided to address knowledge gap with the standards.)
- Hands-on experience with Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) tools or similar
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in obsolescence management, configuration management, or supply chain optimization
- Exposure to defence acquisition processes and project management frameworks
- Understanding of compliance
