A leading engineering firm in Singapore is hiring an experienced HVAC Engineer to manage the design lifecycle of HVAC systems for offshore oil and gas facilities. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of relevant experience and strong vendor engineering management skills. Responsibilities include developing design deliverables, ensuring compliance with standards, and coordinating with project teams. This role is essential for the successful execution of major offshore developments.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering for offshore oil & gas platforms.
  • Experience with vendor engineering management and quality control for HVAC equipment.
  • Familiarity with Middle East offshore project requirements is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review HVAC system design deliverables.

Skills

Job description
Position Summary

The HVAC Engineer will be responsible for the full design and engineering lifecycle of Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning systems for offshore oil & gas facilities, including platforms, living quarters, utility modules, and process areas. The role covers technical design, engineering review, vendor document control, manufacturing quality oversight, and compliance with project specifications and international standards.

This position supports Company’s EPCI works on major offshore developments (e.g., central processing platforms, LQ, utility modules, subsea pipeline facilities) and will work closely with internal engineering teams, vendors, and third-party inspectors to ensure HVAC systems meet all safety, quality, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
A. Design & Engineering
  • Develop and review HVAC system design deliverables: heat load calculations, ducting layouts, ventilation studies, schematics, and equipment sizing.
  • Ensure system design meets project requirements, offshore environmental conditions, and classification society rules.
  • Review mechanical data sheets, P&IDs, air balance studies, and technical specifications.
  • Participate in engineering coordination meetings and interface with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural, HSE).
Vendor Engineering & Quality Control
  • Review vendor documents including equipment GA drawings, ITPs, QA/QC plans, material specifications, test procedures and installation manuals.
  • Verify compliance of vendor design and manufacturing with project standards, international codes (ISO, ASHRAE, API, ABS)
  • Conduct or participate in vendor shop inspections, FAT, performance testing, and manufacturing quality audits.
  • Manage NCRs, ensure timely root-cause analysis and corrective actions by vendors, and verify closure.
  • Support procurement team in technical evaluation (TBE) and bid clarification.
Project Execution & Coordination
  • Support detailed engineering phases being executed by partners/contractors on large offshore packages
  • Participate in construction readiness reviews, installation support, and commissioning planning.
  • Coordinate with offshore site teams to address HVAC issues during construction and start-up.
  • Support development and implementation of HVAC‑related quality traceability and documentation systems.
D. Documentation & Compliance
  • Ensure all HVAC engineering documents meet EPC and Client requirements
  • Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, inspection records and final as-built documentation packages.
  • Maintain accurate records for procurement, fabrication, and commissioning deliverables.
3. Qualifications & Experience
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Preferred: Postgraduate studies in HVAC, Thermo-Fluids, or Building Services.
  • Nice to have: Certified HVAC Engineer / ASHRAE membership / Offshore survival certificates.
Experience (10–15 years)
  • Strong experience in HVAC design and engineering for offshore oil & gas platforms, FPSOs, or large industrial facilities.
  • Proven track record in vendor engineering management and quality control for HVAC equipment (AHUs, FCUs, chillers, compressors, ventilation systems).
  • Experience with EPCI projects, preferably involving offshore processing platforms, utility modules or LQ modules.
  • Familiarity with Middle East offshore project requirements is advantageous
Technical Skills
  • HVAC design tools (HAP, Carrier, CHVAC, AutoCAD, AVEVA, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of offshore HVAC codes: ASHRAE, ISO, IECEx/ATEX for hazardous areas.
  • Experience reviewing ITPs, FAT procedures, QA/QC documents and vendor data packages.
  • Ability to interpret engineering deliverables: P&IDs, D&IDs, layouts, spec sheets.
Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong quality and compliance mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple vendor packages.
  • Comfortable working in multinational project environments (China, Qatar, Singapore).
