Hull Painting Lead — Shipyard Supervisor

Job summary

ST Engineering is seeking a skilled supervisor to lead a painting team at our shipyard facility in Singapore. You will manage a group of chargehands, assistants and subcontractors, ensuring on-time completion of hull painting and related tasks to meet project specs.

You will coordinate manpower, maintain daily records, liaise with owners and surveyors on paint requirements, and ensure adherence to permit systems. Strong communication and decision-making are essential for project success.

Qualifications

• NTC/Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years shipyard or similar experience
• FROSIO/SSPC/NACE certification is a plus
• Knowledge of blasting and painting operations
• Ability to read technical drawings and paint specifications
• Ability to decide and act under pressure

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of chargehands, assistant supervisors and sub-contractors on hull painting and related tasks
• Coordinate manpower scheduling and deployment; manage daily man hour returns
• Update daily manpower deployment records and overtime
• Liaise with owners, paint representatives and surveyors on paint specs and requirements
• Attend VSCC meetings and ensure entry into required permits
• Inspect vessels and ensure safe, quality handover to customers
• Prepare progress reports and monitor project completion against schedule
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve project issues
• Update weekly progress and attend project meetings
