Responsibilities:
Operational Readiness & Process Safety:
- Lead structured safety reviews includingrisk assessments,operational hazard studies, andsafety checksprior to commissioning of plant upgrades or new installations.
- Administer thesafe isolation and energy control procedures(e.g., lockout/tagout) for critical equipment maintenance.
- Coordinatesite walkdowns and completion punch liststo ensure system readiness before handover from construction contractors.
- Overseeearly-phase planning and implementationof commissioning strategies for new facilities and equipment.
Regulatory Compliance & Technical Advisory:
- Provide subject matter expertise oncompliance frameworks, including occupational safety, environmental standards, and hazard mitigation measures.
- Advise on plant-levelchange managementand review technical deviations from engineering and safety standards.
- Keep the organization up-to-date withnew legislative changesrelated to safety and environment; assess potential operational impacts.
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct and leadroot cause investigationsof safety events and environmental incidents, ensuring timely implementation of corrective measures.
- Support the design and execution ofinternal HSE audits, safety culture programs, and training workshops.
- Contribute to long-term safety strategy planning, focusing on reducing operational risks and improving workforce behaviour and awareness.
Procedure & Policy Development:
- Take the lead in creating, revising, and implementingplant-specific safety proceduresaligned with both company and industry standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent application of safety practices across all departments.
- Championenvironmental programsrelated to waste minimization, water efficiency, and emissions control.
Employee Health & Industrial Hygiene:
- Manage routinemonitoring of workplace exposures, including chemical agents and physical stressors, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Liaise with internal teams and external consultants for ongoing health surveillance and wellness compliance.
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering(preferred) with at least5+ years of safety-related experiencein a manufacturing or processing environment. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with internationally recognized standards such asISO 45001,ISO 14001, and relatedSafety Management Systems (SMS).
- Proven expertise inprocess hazard studies, such as HAZOP or similar methodologies.
- Experience withchemical plant start-up and construction safety practicesis highly desirable.
- Strong understanding ofstatutory regulations and operational risk assessmentmethods.
- Competence inincident investigation, with a structured approach to identifying contributing factors and implementing corrective actions.
- Analytical mindset with experience intrend analysisfor safety performance metrics.
