Job summary
A leading company in drilling services is seeking a Workplace Safety Officer to oversee safety practices on construction sites. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with safety regulations, conduct inspections, and coordinate with project managers. Candidates should possess relevant diplomas and safety certifications, with proven experience in the construction industry.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in construction, with 1 year as a Workplace Safety Officer.
- Able to work weekends and public holidays.
- Familiar with Building Management Systems is advantageous.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
- Liaise closely with the company’s management and project teams, and contractors to address any projects’ safety and health issues
- Carry out safety briefing and attend toolbox briefings with contractors
- Perform daily inspection walk about in the building to ensure safe work practices are adhered to by all team members on-site and ensure compliance with prevailing MOM regulations, company policies as well as on-site protocols are maintained by the main contractors and customers
- Coordinate with project supervisor to ensure that the work area is safe for work to commence
- Ensure that the contractors are equipped with valid competency certificates/licences for work
- Ensure that the equipment that are used for work, are equipped with valid statutory certificates
- Assist the project manager in supervision of work, updating of contractor’s progress, housekeeping by contractors, accident/incident reporting and investigations if any.
- Provide end-of -shift status report on the work progress and safety inspections carried out
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma related to Building or Engineering studies
- Minimum 3-years working experience in construction, renovation, or building maintenance industry, with minimum 1-year experience as a Workplace Safety Officer and/or leading a project renovation.
- Able to work Weekends and Public Holidays when required
- Occupational Health Safety certification or equivalent
- Working at Height (WAH) training certification and valid Occupational First Aid (OFA) certifications
- Works well with teams from various departments
- Good in communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated individual who works independently with little supervision
- Able to use Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) such as scissor and boom lift, climb ladders and stairs when required
- Fire Safety Manager certification is advantageous
- Familiar with Building Management Systems is advantageous
- Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems is an advantage
