A leading staffing company in Singapore is seeking a Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) to ensure compliance with safety regulations, implement HSE programs, and foster a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate will have a diploma/degree in Workplace Safety and Health, along with MOM registration and at least 5 years of construction industry experience. This role involves conducting regular safety audits, training, and liaising with authorities on health and safety matters.
Roles & Responsibilities
Fulfil the responsibilities of a Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) in accordance with applicable legislation and regulations.
Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, safety regulations, company policies, and relevant codes of practice.
Provide safety coaching, guidance, and training to employees to promote a strong safety culture.
Implement and monitor project-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs in line with corporate standards.
Support company initiatives aimed at attaining HSE-related awards and certifications.
Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
Identify gaps in HSE procedures and performance; recommend and drive continuous improvements.
Develop, implement, and manage project-specific safety programs.
Review and assess WSH Management Systems (WSHMS) and environmental reports for ongoing effectiveness.
Conduct safety briefings, meetings, and training sessions for all relevant stakeholders.
Work closely with the project team to maintain high standards of workplace safety, health, and environmental management.
Liaise with authorities on all occupational health, safety, and environmental matters.
Provide timely WSH advice to the Project Director and Project Manager on improvements and best practices.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports related to site HSE performance and ensure timely submissions.
Review and validate both internal and external risk assessments and risk management frameworks.
Lead investigations into incidents and near misses; propose corrective and preventive measures and track implementation.
Ensure all Permit-to-Work (PTW) documents are valid and properly maintained.
Prepare and submit the Site Environmental Control Program prior to project commencement.
Organize and coordinate emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and ensure readiness of emergency response equipment.
Compile and present comprehensive reports and data analytics on WSH performance and site safety conditions.
Undertake any additional HSE-related tasks assigned by management.
Job Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Workplace Safety and Health or a related field.
Must be MOM-registered as a WSHO, with at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
Well-versed in current WSH and ENV regulations and compliance requirements.
Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team.
Possession of own transport is preferred.
