Job description

1. Plant Care & Maintenance

• Maintain and care for ornamental plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees
• Perform pruning, watering, fertilising, mulching, pest/disease management
• Ensure plant health in parks, gardens, streetscapes, commercial landscapes

2. Landscape Management

• Oversee landscape installation and maintenance work
• Inspect softscapes (plants, turf) for quality and health
• Work with landscape technicians and contractors

3. Nursery & Propagation Work

• Propagate plants through seeds, cuttings, grafting, etc.
• Manage nursery stock, potting, transplanting, soil conditioning

4. Design & Planning Support

• Assist in developing planting plans and selecting suitable species for SG’s tropical climate
• Advise on sustainable horticultural practices and plant choices

5. Operat​ional & Administrative Tasks

• Prepare maintenance schedules and work reports
• Monitor inventory (fertiliser, tools, pesticides)
• Ensure compliance with NParks and workplace safety standards

6. Research & Development (Optional, depends on employer)

• Study plant varieties, climate suitability, pest resistance
• Support urban greenery innovation initiatives (e.g., rooftop gardens, vertical greenery)
