Job description

Job Title: Histopathology Technician

The role involves receiving outpatient lab requests with paid bills, verifying and approving them in the Laboratory Information System to generate lab requests. It is important to mention the lab test turnaround time in the bill and run samples with technical expertise. The technician will deliver lab reports after verifying patient bills, greet patients courteously, and handle telephone calls politely, adhering to proper telephone manners.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Reporting Histopathology, Haematology, Cytopathology, and all other lab reports.
  2. Typing in Attune software and assisting in file maintenance and record keeping.
  3. Maintaining cleanliness of the lab, washing and sterilizing glassware and equipment.
  4. Assisting in departmental activities such as obtaining patient files, receiving items from the store, and managing biomedical waste.
  5. Documenting internal quality control results and reporting on biochemistry samples.
  6. Dispatching reports timely and maintaining internal quality control and participating in EQAS.
  7. Reviewing technician performance, training new technicians, and ensuring proper waste disposal.
  8. Monitoring equipment, revising SOPs, checking referral investigations, and purchasing urgent materials.

The ideal candidate should possess a Q-DMLT or BSMLT qualification with 2-6 years of experience. Immediate joiners with relevant experience are preferred. Compensation and benefits are aligned with market standards.
