A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in thermal design, particularly heat exchangers. The role involves performing designs, selecting materials, and collaborating with various teams to ensure optimal performance and compliance with international standards. This position is ideal for candidates with strong technical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Min Qualifications & Requirements :
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related filed.
- Min 3 years of experience in thermal design of heat exchangers (candidates without experience with strong academic background may be considered for junior roles)
- Proficient in thermal design software (HTRI, Aspen EDR, etc) and pressure vessel design software (PVELite, Autopipe-Vessel, etc)
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow principles
- Familiar with international design codes and standards (TEMA, ASME VIII, API 660, etc).
- Excellent technical communication, documentation and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem solving abilities
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform thermal and hydraulic design of shell-and-tube & air-cooled heat exchangers.
- Select appropriate heat exchanger types, materials, and configurations based on process requirements.
- Generate thermal design calculations and data sheets using software such HTRI, Aspen EDR, or similar.
- Optimize exchanger designs for performance, cost, weight, and fabrication feasibility.
- Interface with mechanical design engineers to ensure integration of thermal and mechanical design.
- Interpret process data, P&IDs, and client specifications to develop thermal design solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports for client approval and internal use.
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (eg. TEMA, ASME, API, etc).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales/marketing, project, procurement, QA/QC engineers.
- Any adhoc project assigned by Design Manager.
