Job summary

SPD LTD. in Singapore seeks dedicated healthcare support staff for the rehab department. You will assist clients with daily living activities, monitor safety and help with therapy sessions.

You will also prepare clients and equipment, support group activities, manage prosthetic fittings, and keep the department clean and orderly. Regular meetings and collaboration with volunteers are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Secondary education or equivalent required.
• WSQ Certificate in Healthcare Support (Nursing Care) or relevant certificate preferred.
• A team player with good interpersonal communications skills.
• Experience in caring for clients with dementia preferred.

Responsibilities

• Porter clients between departments (e.g., from day care blocks to rehab) according to the treatment schedule.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of clients at all times; follow safety procedures and never leave clients unattended.
• Provide person-centric care in daily operations and monitor clients during treatment.
• Assist clients in Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and accompany them to the toilet as needed.
• Assist with other nursing care or first aid (e.g., wound dressing).
• Prepare clients and therapy equipment before each therapy session.
• Assist and/or conduct routine exercises/group therapy/activities as directed by therapists.
• Assist with donning and doffing prosthetics/orthotics when necessary.
• Provide feedback to therapists regarding client behaviour and progress.
• Maintain and report on upkeep/maintenance of therapy equipment; keep department clean.
• Ensure department is locked up at end of day.
• Liaise with volunteers assisting in activities/sessions.
• Attend staff meetings, case conferences, in-service and caregiver support programmes.
• Other duties as required.

Job description

• To porter clients, such as from the various departments (day care blocks) to the rehab department in accordance to clients' treatment schedule.
• To ensure the safety and well-being of the clients under your care at all times. To be aware of safety procedures and never to leave clients unattended.
• To provide person-centric model of care in daily operations.
• To monitor clients during treatment to ensure their safety.
• Assist clients in Activities of Daily Living (ADL) activities (e.g., urinary catheterization and urinary drainage system care), accompany clients to the toilet and assist them in elimination needs if necessary.
• To assist clients with other nursing care or first aid (e.g., wound dressing).
• Preparing clients and therapy equipment before each therapy session.
• To assist and/or conduct routine exercises/ group therapy/ activities session as formatted by the therapists.
• Donning and doffing of prosthetics, orthotics etc. when necessary.
• To provide necessary feedback/ information with regards to clients' behaviour to the therapist.
• To be responsible for up keeping and maintenance of all therapy equipment and report any maintenance and repair required of the equipment.
• To maintain the cleanliness of the department.
• To ensure that the department is locked up at the end of the day.
• To work in liaison with the volunteers who are helping in client activities/sessions.
• To attend and contribute regularly during Staff meetings, Case conferences, In-service and client/caregiver support programmes.
• Any other duties as directed as and when required.

REQUIREMENTS

• At a minimum completion of Secondary education or equivalent
• WSQ Certificate in Healthcare Support (Nursing Care) or relevant certificate preferred.
