Job summary

A leading organization in social services is seeking a Head of Social Work to lead their Social Work Department. This role involves ensuring quality service delivery, developing work plans, and managing departmental resources, aligning with the strategic objectives of the AWWA School. The ideal candidate will have a degree in social work, relevant supervisory experience, and a passion for empowering clients with special needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in social service or disability setting, 2+ years in supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of engaging and assessing client needs, and creating effective intervention plans.
  • Must be fluent in English and conversational in mother tongue.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee service quality and case management for clients' special needs.
  • Lead the Social Work Department in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Develop workplan and ensure governance policies are implemented.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

Maintain operational efficiency in line with strategic objectives

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Social Work Department at AWWA School/s.

  • Oversee the quality service in providing case management and counselling to clients and their families on the issues pertaining to clients' special needs and maintaining all pertinent records regarding the casework intervention with clients and their families in partnership with the programme team

  • Work closely with the leadership team in the expansion and scaling up of disability services

  • Support the communication of the AWWA School's objectives and values within the team/s.

  • Develop workplan for the Social Work Department, in alignment with School’s goals

  • Implement changes to priority service areas for the department

  • Oversee implementation of operational strategies for the department

  • Lead resolution of operational issues within the department

  • Develop service standards, performance indicators and operating guidelines for the department

  • Oversee the implementation of programmes and services for the department

Demonstrate corporate governance

  • Implement/enhance governance policies and procedures for the department

  • Conduct audits on service quality to ensure compliance with policies

  • Enhance/streamline the processes pertaining to financial assessments for various subsidy schemes and fee allocations with the Registry office.

Manage resources

  • Monitor the use of resources

  • Provide recommendations for the deployment of resources to fulfil the needs of the department

  • Draft funding proposals for the delivery of services, if required.

Develop organisational capability for service delivery

  • Assess capability gaps within the team/s

  • Oversee implementation of professional development programmes for team/s

Other Responsibilities

  1. Build professional partnerships across agencies to provide social services

  1. Providing support to School/ AWWA wide events/projects/committees

  1. To perform any other duties as directed by the Principal, CEO and the Management of AWWA.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education / Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work

  • SASW Registered Social Worker

  • Social Work Proficiency Level 4 – 5, equivalent to Senior Social Worker II

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

  • Head, Social Work – 5 years in social service or disability setting with at least 2 years in a supervisory role

  • Senior Head, Social Work – More than 8 years in social service or disability setting with at least 3 years in a leadership/strategic role

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge and ability to engage, assess, and provide intervention (including mitigating risks at client’s level) & practice evaluation

  • Ability to draw and apply relevant theories in direct case work for appropriateintervention/ care plans

  • Ability to identify, profile and prioritize clients based on needs evaluation

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint

  • Fluent in English and conversational proficiency in mother tongue Good communication and management skills.
