\*Exciting senior mandate for a Head, Regional Strategy, India Region, with a global financial institution\*
Full ownership of the organization’s strategic, financial, and governance agenda for India region, with primary responsibility for the organization’s India Business Unit.
Single point of accountability for driving value creation, aligning stakeholders (including the organization’s partners/co-promoters), and ensuring delivery of business performance.
Operates as a country portfolio lead, directly shaping CEO- and Board-level decisions, and leading critical strategic initiatives including partnership evolution, capital actions, and transformation.
Responsibilities
End‑to‑End Ownership of India Market Strategy
- Own formulation, refresh, and execution of India strategy, with explicit accountability for India BU’s outcomes
- Set strategic direction across:
- Growth (distribution scale, bancassurance optimization, partnerships)
- Profitability (product mix, margin improvement, capital efficiency)
- Provide independent challenge to India BU’s management; ensure strategies are robust, defensible, and aligned with shareholder objectives
- Lead evaluation and execution of major strategic actions, like stake changes, M&A
Performance Ownership & Value Delivery
- Build strong relationships with C‑level stakeholders, India BU’s management, shareholders, to drive alignment on key strategic matters
- Accountable for India BU’s performance vs plan (topline, bottom line, capital metrics)
- Directly engage India BU’s management to intervene on underperformance, drive corrective actions and turnaround initiatives
- Steer performance dialogues with CEOs, Boards, and shareholders with clear positions and recommendations
- Deliver forward‑looking insight, scenario analysis, and risk assessment to regional and global leadership
Group Synergies & Strategic Influence
- Own delivery of tangible group synergies into India, including product innovation, digital capabilities, analytics, and risk frameworks
- Influence India strategy using best practices from Japan, SEA, and Oceania
- Mobilize group resources and ensure execution, not just identification of synergies
Transformation
- Lead initiatives across business transformation and operating model redesign, regulatory positioning and engagement, strategic responses to market or partner developments
Requirements
- Min 15 years’ experience in Strategy, corporate development, or investment roles, in Life insurance / financial services, with strong exposure to bancassurance
- Sound experience in India insurance market, preferably Life Insurance and stakeholder landscape
- Proven track record of engagement at CXO / Board / shareholder level
- Deep mastery of life insurance value drivers, distribution economics (especially bancassurance), product and capital profitability
- Strong commercial judgment with ability to take clear positions under ambiguity
