A leading animal welfare organization in Singapore is seeking a Head of Veterinary Nurse to lead veterinary nursing services and ensure the effective delivery of animal healthcare. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of veterinary nursing experience and strong leadership skills. This role involves supervising nursing staff, overseeing clinical care, and ensuring compliance with veterinary regulations. A passion for animal welfare is essential.
Job Responsibilites:
The Head of Veterinary Nurse is responsible for leading veterinary nursing services and ensuring the effective delivery of animal healthcare at the SPCA’s Community Animal Clinic.
· Lead, supervise, and support a team of veterinary nurses and assistants.
· Oversee daily clinical care, including surgical preparation, post-operative recovery, and monitoring animal health and welfare.
· Assist veterinarians in diagnostics, treatments, surgical procedures, and humane euthanasia when necessary.
· Manage nursing staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
· Monitor, procure, and manage veterinary medical inventory and supplies.
· Ensure proper maintenance, sterilization, and use of veterinary equipment.
· Implement and enforce infection control, biosecurity, and disease prevention protocols.
· Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with shelter management.
· Oversee nursing care for shelter animals, including wound management and intensive care.
· Coordinate shelter-wide vaccination, sterilization, and parasite prevention programs.
· Ensure compliance with local veterinary regulations and animal welfare standards.
· Promote best practices in animal handling and clinical care.
· Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of all animals under SPCA’s care.
· Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.
· Provide support for ad-hoc events and SPCA-led initiatives as required
Job Requirements:
· Minimum Advance Certificate in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualifications/experience in animal care or veterinary support
· At least 5 years of veterinary nursing experiences, ideally in a shelter setting
· Proven leadership or supervisory experience
· Proficient in clinical procedures, surgical support, and aseptic
· Familiarity with veterinary medical equipment and hospital protocols.
· Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
· Compassionate, emotionally resilient, and able to work under pressure.
· Meticulous with excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
· Team-oriented with a passion for animal welfare and advocacy.
· Fluency in written and spoken English.
