About the Role:

Our client is on a mission to revolutionize renewable energy investments, and we're searching for an innovative Wind Energy Development Technical Expert to lead the charge. With their sights set on Southeast Asia—particularly Vietnam and the Philippines—you'll have the chance to work on avant-garde wind power projects that make a tangible difference.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Wind Technical Lead: Dive deep into assessing potential wind project investments with precision and care.
  2. Wind Resource Assessment: Decipher wind data, analyzing everything from speed and direction to turbulence intensity, unveiling the true potential of each site.
  3. Micro-siting: Artfully pinpoint the best spots for turbines, ensuring maximum energy output while respecting environmental and regulatory boundaries.
  4. Technology Selection: Choose the ideal wind turbine technology by evaluating site characteristics, grid infrastructure, economic factors, and maintenance needs.
  5. Financial Modelling: Support the Financial Modelling team by providing and verifying inputs into financial models that assess economic feasibility, revenue, capital expenditures, and operating costs.
  6. Project Development: Co-lead wind project development, including technical aspects, permitting, compliance, and negotiations with turbine suppliers.
  7. Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate technical and financial risks related to resource uncertainty, equipment issues, or regulatory changes.
  8. Deal Structuring: Collaborate with legal and financial teams to structure investment deals, including debt, equity, project finance, and PPAs.
  9. Project Monitoring: Monitor projects' performance, tracking energy production, operational costs, and financial returns.
  10. Exit Strategy: Plan and execute exit strategies such as sale or refinancing when appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in renewable energy, focusing on wind energy development and investment.
  • Expertise in wind turbine technology, resource assessment, grid connection, and project financing.
  • Proven success managing wind projects across Southeast Asia, especially in Vietnam and the Philippines.
  • Strong network with equipment suppliers and experience in LTSA negotiations.
  • Deep understanding of local regulatory and permitting processes.
  • Exceptional financial modelling and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in project finance, structuring debt and equity.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Mastery of relevant software tools, including wind assessment and financial modelling software.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Southeast Asia.
