Job description

Head of M&A & Capital Markets

Location: Singapore or Tokyo

Reports to: Chief Investment Officer (CIO) & Group CEO

Overview

An ambitious, high-growth energy transition platform—backed by a top-tier private equity sponsor—is seeking a Head of M&A & Capital Markets to lead strategic growth across Asia.

This is a critical leadership role where the ideal candidate will bring deep transaction experience, a strong fundraising track record, and the ability to operate at pace. You’ll be joining a fast-moving, entrepreneurial platform with significant capital committed and a clear ambition to lead the energy transition across Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead M&A strategy and execution across Asia-Pacific, with a primary focus on North Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan) and Southeast Asia
  • Identify and originate deals at both the project and platform level, including greenfield, brownfield, and late-stage development assets
  • Lead fundraising efforts (debt and equity) alongside the CFO to ensure adequate capital for growth and acquisition opportunities
  • Partner closely with the CIO on high-impact strategic topics, supporting long-term value creation and platform scaling
  • Build and maintain relationships with key banks, investors, and financial advisors to support ongoing and future capital needs
  • Serve as a key member of the Investment Committee, overseeing end-to-end deal evaluation and execution
  • Collaborate with Country Managers and BD teams, providing a central investment lens to drive disciplined expansion
  • Contribute to corporate strategy and succession planning, with a pathway to potential CIO or CEO roles

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 12–18+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or project finance within the renewables, infrastructure, or energy sectors
  • Strong experience across M&A and fundraising, ideally with capital raised across both public and private channels
  • Demonstrated ability to originate, evaluate, and execute complex transactions across multiple jurisdictions
  • Familiarity with North Asia and Southeast Asia markets and an existing network of relevant stakeholders
  • Commercial, strategic thinker with the ability to operate across C-suite, investment partners, and technical teams
  • Brings strong deal judgment, high EQ, and a "hit the ground running" mindset—ready to deliver in a high-performance, entrepreneurial environment
  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, Singapore or Tokyo
