Job summary

A global investment firm in Singapore seeks an experienced Finance Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations and ensure compliance across SEA businesses. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in investment banking or consultancy, strong people management skills, and a proactive attitude. Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of other Asian languages is a plus.

Job description

Finance

- Manages the day-to-day operations of SEA businesses through the support teams in each country in the region;

- Manages the businesses’ finances by setting appropriate approval limits to ensure that commitments are in line with approved budgets and group guidelines;

- Ensure timely submissions of financial information, both internal and external

- Ensures awareness of changes to resources and human resources related matters with a financial impact through regular interaction with human resources team;

- Conduct regular reviews with the Head of Southeast Asia and other senior bankers to identify key business issues/needs and make appropriate recommendations for change/improvement/cost savings;

- Help ensure standardization of policies and initiatives across SEA regional businesses in the first instance and, where appropriate, with the rest of the global network;

- Coordinate external and internal audits (statutory and tax) and sign off on annual reports for the SEA offices;

- Work with tax advisers in the region to review and approve tax returns;

- Have an understanding of tax legislation across the different jurisdictions and assist the business with structuring mandates in a tax efficient manner;

- Monitor and ensure the minimum capital requirement for the SEA offices are maintained at all times;

- Team co-ordination - day to day management responsibility for the finance team

- Oversight of outsourced accounting and tax functions in Indonesia and Malaysia

- Primary contact person for senior management with regards to: P&L Analysis, Balance sheet, Tax related questions, VAT, Income Tax, WHT, Transfer pricing;

- Monthly statutory and management reporting to Group Finance;

- Maintenance of pipeline and preparation of associated activity reporting;

- Coordination of annual Budget, Forecast and BRC processes;

- Development of business-related presentations for internal purposes;

- Participation in rollout of Group Finance Projects

Operations

- Coordination of back office with chairing of support meetings, management dialogue and alignment of shared priorities;

- Day-to-day management of the executive assistants and Receptionist in Singapore and Office Manager in Indonesia

- Ensures the businesses operate within the legal and regulatory framework of each business and country by working closely with the legal and compliance function;

- Ensures the businesses attract, motivate and retain the highest quality support staff by working with human resources function for the region;

- Group stakeholder management - liaising with other support service providers globally;

- Acting as key contact for global/regional support function heads;

- Oversee premises related projects (lease renewals, office renovation etc);

- Manage the renewal of office insurance and travel insurance;

- Travel management;

- Review and sign off of vendor contracts;

- Adhoc (e.g. offsite organisation)

Qualification & Experience Required:

- Qualified accountant from Big 4 and undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, business administration or a related discipline;

- 10 years+ relevant experience within an investment bank or consultancy firm;

- Highly developed people and operation management skills;

- Significant cross-cultural adaptability and sensitivity;

- Demonstrable familiarity of legal and regulatory framework across Asia, in particular where Rothschild has offices;

- Pro-active and flexible attitude, with the ability to demonstrate initiative and reliability;

- Prioritises work effectively, works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines;

- First class organisation skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy are essential;

- Builds and maintains relationships within the team, professional firms, and the Rothschild network across Asia;

- English essential; Other Asian languages useful.
