Qualifications

Job description

What the role entails:

  • Performs routine laboratory test procedures as outlined in the laboratory technical manuals. Adheres to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing.

  • Correlates clinical information and/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to Senior Laboratory Manager/ Deputy Laboratory Manager when no preset criteria for decision making are available before taking action.

  • Maintains and operates lab equipment; able to detect malfunctions as they occur by review of instruments results. Troubleshoots the problem with technologist assistance.

  • Responsible for quality control for the Diagnostic Laboratory, achieving KPIs, TATs and quality objectives agreed by the department and maintain internal and external quality control in monitoring the quality of daily work. Investigate underperformance and implement corrective action and maintain quality standards in accordance with ISO 15189, CAP requirement and other applicable regulatory bodies e.g. MOH.

  • To monitor and maintain standards of the service and to provide support and guidance to others on the technical standards required. This includes investigating, managing and monitoring incidents in line with QMS policy and in conjunction with the quality manager.

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • B.Sc. in Biomedical Science / Medical Technology or related Science discipline.

  • 5 years or more of experience in the molecular department (hospital/ clinical laboratory setting).
