Job summary

National Healthcare Group (NHG) is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead our data and AI engineering efforts. You will turn strategy into reliable platforms, pipelines, APIs and AI/ML infrastructure used by clinical, research and operational teams.

This hands-on leadership role guides delivery, architecture and standards, builds a multi-disciplinary team, and ensures a secure, scalable data ecosystem aligned with national health initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years in software engineering, data engineering or related technology leadership roles.
• At least 5 years leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong depth in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, API design and production operations.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-grade platforms with reliability, security and governance.
• Experience with DevOps, DataOps, ALOps and/or MLOps including CI/CD and monitoring.
• Ability to communicate engineering strategy and risks to senior non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience managing engineering cost transparency and TCO reporting.
• Ability to translate needs to clinical/governance executives clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead NHG data strategy design and translate it into engineering delivery roadmap.
• Build and operate secure, scalable data and AI platforms, pipelines and APIs.
• Ensure production readiness with standards for performance, uptime and monitoring.
• Embed governance, privacy and responsible AI into engineering controls.
• Grow and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team with delivery accountability.
• Evaluate tools, platforms and vendor options for scalability, security and cost.
• Collaborate with NHG and national stakeholders to translate needs into engineering solutions.
