Job summary: The Head of Compliance leads the design and execution of a group-wide compliance framework that empowers businessdecisions and ensures adherence to international laws and regulations. This strategic role is critical in fostering a culture of ethical businessconduct, mitigating regulatory risk, and driving compliance best practices across PIL’s global operations.Working closely with business and functional leaders, the Head of Compliance serves as a trusted partner to provide timely, easy-to-understand, and commercially focused compliance guidance. This includes, but is not limited to, competition law, ethics and businessintegrity, sanctions, personal data protection, and industry-specific regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategy and Program Leadership

    • Define, implement, and continuously evolve the Group Compliance strategy and roadmap in alignment with PIL’s business priorities and risk appetite.

2. Policy and Governance

    • Develop, roll out, and regularly update global compliance policies, guidelines, procedures, and controls.
    • Oversee the creation of tailored compliance frameworks for high-risk jurisdictions or business units.

3. Compliance Advisory and Risk Management

    • Provide proactive, commercially astute compliance advice to business units, management, and project teams.
    • Lead impact analyses and guidance for emerging regulations globally (e.g. sanctions, competition law, data privacy).
    • Manage internal regulatory assessments and external audits; act as escalation point for sensitive compliance issues.

4. Training, Awareness, and Communication

    • Design and deliver engaging compliance training programs and internal communication campaigns.
    • Promote PIL’s Culture Playbook and embed a values-based compliance culture across the organization.

5. Monitoring and Investigation

    • Lead the compliance monitoring and risk assessment program (including integration with risk management framework).
    • Supervise investigations into potential misconduct or non-compliance (e.g. whistleblowing, data breaches).
    • Ensure timely and consistent regulatory disclosures and filings.

6. External Engagement and Reputation

    • Act as Group Data Protection Officer (DPO), including oversight of cross-border data transfer compliance.
    • Represent PIL in regulator dialogues and industry associations (e.g. World Shipping Council).
    • Drive thought leadership and enhance PIL’s external reputation for ethics and compliance excellence.
