A leading company in Singapore seeks a Head of Compliance to manage compliance frameworks and relations with regulatory bodies. This role includes AML oversight, regulatory policy development, and internal audits. The ideal candidate will possess extensive compliance experience in the banking sector and strong analytical and leadership skills.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Reporting to Senior Management and the Board of Directors, the Head of Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company’s compliance framework to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, particularly those set by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Key Responsibilities:
1. AML/CFT Oversight:
Serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), where applicable.
Oversee the AML framework including transaction monitoring, customer due diligence (CDD/KYC), and suspicious transaction reporting (STR).
2. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the company complies with MAS regulations and other relevant laws.
Act as the main liaison with MAS and other regulatory bodies.
Keep abreast of regulatory changes and advise management on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
3. Policy Development and Oversight:
Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures.
Ensure internal policies align with local regulatory expectations and global best practices.
4. Monitoring and Reporting:
Conduct compliance risk assessments, monitoring, and surveillance.
Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and the Board.
Oversee regulatory filings and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
5. Internal Audit and Investigations:
Collaborate with internal audit and risk functions.
Lead internal investigations into compliance breaches or unethical conduct.
Requirements:
Background in Law, Finance, Business, or related field and/or professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA) is preferred.
Minimum 10 years of relevant compliance experience in the banking or financial services industry.
Experience in handling banking regulations and MAS notices.
Proven experience engaging with regulators, senior management, and the Board.
Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Integrity, independence, and sound judgement.
