SGeBIZ – Head of Compliance
Job Description – September 2025
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Compliance to lead and enhance the compliance function at SGeBIZ, a MAS-regulated Major Payments Institution. This role is pivotal in ensuring SGeBIZ’s operations comply with all relevant regulatory requirements, particularly those set by the MAS under the Payment Services Act, as well as all applicable AML/CFT regulations.
As Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our local compliance programme, managing regulatory engagement, and embedding a strong risk and compliance culture across the business.
Responsibilities
- Act as the appointed Compliance Officer under MAS regulations.
- Maintain and enhance the compliance framework, including policies, procedures, monitoring plans, and training programmes.
- Lead SGeBIZ’s regulatory engagement with MAS and other relevant authorities, including licensing matters, routine submissions, ad-hoc queries, and inspections.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with the Payment Services Act, MAS Notices and Guidelines, and other applicable legislation.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior management on compliance implications of new or changing requirements.
- Oversee the local AML/CFT programme, including customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious transaction reporting, and sanctions screening.
- Collaborate with product, engineering and operations teams to provide compliance advice on business initiatives and new products or services.
- Assist in compliance reporting to the board.
- Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and independent reviews as required.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the business, driving a compliance-first culture without compromising agility and innovation.
Requirements
- Prior working experience in a MAS licensed financial institution, preferably a Major Payments Institution.
- Strong knowledge of MAS regulatory framework, AML/CFT requirements, and experience dealing directly with regulators.
- Strong understanding of financial services regulations and AML
- Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical business processes.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, as well as communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
- High level of proficiency in both written and spoken English.
