About the Role:

As a key member of the Strategy team within the Growth & Emerging Markets (GEM) Singapore HQ Organization, this role provides commercial expertise & support to the GEM President, the area heads particularly, Singapore HQ functions and the Area Business Operations team, commercial triage & governance for Marketing & Commercial Excellence (MCE), Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS) and the Area Business Operations / LOC Franchise Heads and project management of portfolio & commercial operations initiatives within GEM, This role is essential for steering GEM’s portfolio of over 10 Growth & Launch Brands across more than 20 markets spanning 15 time zones.

How you will Contribute:

GEM Strategy:

  • Develops and maintains a strong understanding of current and future market trends, product portfolio and competitive dynamics across all priority TAs and Brands in GEM.
  • Develop and orchestrate GEM strategy to maximal patient and business impact of GEM across diverse set of countries
  • Lead key projects & transformation including bringing outside view internally through external focus
  • Aligns and represents commercial perspectives to GEM President & GEM Leadership Teams (LT) to ensure strong commercial voice at GEMLT in definition / execution of portfolio, franchise, and brand strategy.
  • Liaise closely with MCE and GPLS to ensure an aligned commercial assessment and position and augment feedback from LOCs to MCE & GPLS.
  • Collaborate with GEM leadership to evaluate execution of GEM strategy & tactics within Business Reviews & Corporate Planning cycles.
  • Provide commercial thought partnership to GEM President, GEMLT, Singapore HQ functions (eg Finance, DDT, E&C, HR, Legal).

Long Range Forecast (LRF) / Mid-Range Plan (MRP)

  • Provide operational management of the forecasting elements of the LRF and year 3 MRP for GEM, working closely with Finance and the GPLS / MCE teams.

Business Development (BD)

  • Work with GPLS / MCE colleagues to provide GEM perspectives on BD assessments for potential BD candidates. GPLS & MCE to lead work on late-stage development assets, marketed products or M&A projects. Gain GEM leadership support for GEM specific assessments.
  • Support GPLS / MCE and provide input on GEM level consolidation of financials.
  • Responsible for keeping the regional president informed at a high level for all Life Cycle Management (LCM) / Business Development (BD) projects led by MCE.

Business Cases (BCs)

  • Support Area Business Operations / LOCs and coordinate with GEMLT functions / GEM Regional President and MCE / GPLS stakeholders for approvals of individual Business Cases and provide inputs on GEM level consolidation of financials.

Commercial analysis & triage within GEM

  • Act as first point of contact / triage regarding operational execution of new Global Portfolio Division (GPD) operating model to help rapidly establish MCE within GEM. Work closely with MCE Head, MCE Business Operations, GEM President / Functions, LOC BU Heads and Area Business Operations to ensure strong collaboration, project execution and facilitate One-Takeda mentality.
  • Represent GEM leadership on operational issues with MCE / GPLS, activate key stakeholders to address identified challenges. Establish light-touch governance process to identify, escalate and resolve issues between GEM LOCs and above LOC GPD functions and process to identify challenges LOC face.
  • Ensure prioritization, resource allocation and alignment between Global, GEM and Area-level

Brand Plan Reviews coordination

  • Coordinate with MCE to share the brand plan templates to the Area Business Operations team / LOCs for respective brands and share key timelines for delivering final Brand Plans for review at LOC & Area Level.
  • Coordinate with Area Business Operations team & LOCs with MCE to help share best practices related to Brand Plans.
  • Create an archive for GEM brand Plan for easy sharing between LOCs and overview by GEM HQ.

Launch Excellence partnership

  • Participate in key GEM-level Launch Excellence Governance meetings and represent GEM commercial voice.
  • Interface between MCE and GEM President updating on key commercial considerations of Launch Excellence preparation.

Key interface for Area Business Operations

  • Engage regularly with Area Business Operations team gaining insights and representing GEM with regional / global cross-functional colleagues, GEMLT, GEM president, and other global stakeholders (MCE / GPLS / Global Medical).
  • Interface between MCE / GPLS and GEM President on key commercial considerations and represent the voice of Area Business Operations team.

Global Medical Affairs GEM Lead partnership

  • Participate in key GEM-level Medical Affairs cross-functional discussions and represent GEM commercial voice.
  • Interface between MCE / GPLS and GEM President on key commercial considerations of GEM Medical initiatives.

Project management

  • Lead the project management of commercial operations projects as requested by GEM President.
  • Ensure all projects complement and / or augment work undertaken by MCE, GPLS and cross-functional partners, minimizing any duplication.
  • Collaborate with and shape maximal impact from Global functions
  • Manage external suppliers and budgets to deliver on project objectives.
  • Present project outputs to GEMLT and other senior leaders with impact to influence GEM and Area / LOC strategy & execution.
  • Actively contribute to other projects within GEM Strategy function as requested by Head of Strategy.

Role Requirement:

  • Strong commercial experience across multiple therapeutic areas and / or countries with an in-depth understanding of market dynamics in GEM.
  • Strong cross-functional awareness of & working with medical, access, and DDT colleagues at LOC, regional and global level.
  • Extensive experience and capability in brand planning, launch preparation and launch execution in multiple TAs and ideally at LOC and regional / global level. Direct experience and success in LOC, regional and/or global commercial roles.
  • Ability to think strategically and be able to navigate operational challenges to drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong business acumen, with appreciation for cross-cultural and cross-functional differences and able to deal with ambiguity effectively.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in a persuasive & clear manner and be able to build collaborative relationships in complex cross-functional matrices.
  • Capacity to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders (e.g., GEMLT, Areas, LOCs, MCE, GPLS, cross-functional partners across Takeda).
  • Positive mindset with clear focus and understanding of patient and customer needs.
  • Good judgment & decision-making skills, with demonstrated success in problem-solving and ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Capacity to manage with influence and develop talent within / across GEM with positive mindset and support of Takeda values / culture.
