Based at our Corporate Office in Singapore, we are looking for a passionate and energetic individual to join us as Head of Business Development.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Business Development is responsible for managing the development activity for Pan Pacific Hotels Group’s current portfolio of three brands (hotels, resorts, serviced suites and branded residences) – Pan Pacific, PARKROYAL COLLECTION and PARKROYAL.

In this position, the incumbent will spearhead the strategic development effort by leading the development team to source and negotiate suitable properties for the Group. This position will also focus on development marketing such as presentations and marketing activities including influencer forums, conferences, partnerships and other like activities.

This role offers an insight in the growth strategies of the organization as it extends its global footprint across its three brands. The role provides the opportunity to support the revenue achievements for PPHG and allows for close connection with the latest development in the hotel industry.

The incumbent is also a primary lead in developing the development toolkit, commercial terms and budgeting and planning process to ensure strategies are in place to achieve short and medium terms growth targets as set and agreed by Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Implementation

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of the Development Strategic Initiatives to sustain revenue growth in the medium term for the group.
  • Formulate organic business plans, budgets, and KPIs that will support the group’s overall strategy.
  • Plan future team resources and lead recruitment, boarding and educational efforts as related to the development team.

Business Development

  • Identify potential management, franchising contract opportunities and execute through to definitive Agreements or other business models as agreed within the Group, with the Hotel Owners.
  • Manage the contract renewal process for existing property agreements.
  • Lead the sourcing opportunities for property acquisitions and work with Senior Management in both PPHG and UOL, to close acquisitions.
  • Communicate effectively PPHG strategies to all relevant partners: Owners, Management Companies, brokers, in market influencers and Associates.
  • Actively network and develop strong relationships with Owners, consultants and other relevant professionals including brokerage, advisory and property investment, legal and , architectural and design firms, and other business partners to increase deal flow.
  • Maintain records and knowledge management systems that support the hotel development business. This includes becoming a regular user of contact management system software and completion of all regular reports utilized by the Group.

Legal / Negotiation

  • Negotiate property Agreements and other documentation required to secure and protect the interests of PPHG.
  • Participate in improving the legal documentation and process utilized by the Group as well as the general structure of how PPHG documents its relationships with Owners.
  • Complete all related approval forms, negotiation progress tracking forms and other administrative duties required in the completion of all negotiation process with Owners and or other parties.
  • Document market practices and HMA terms in the market area so knowledge is transferred into the Group and amendments made as necessary to remain competitive within each market.

Transition Management

  • Responsible for transitioning the property relationship from Development to Technical Services and the Pre-opening and Operations teams.
  • Involve other disciplines of the group in a fashion that fosters a smooth transition and information flow to the Pre-opening, Operations and Technical Services teams.

External

  • Represent the Group at the highest levels possible within the Business and Civic Communities and participate in forums/industry associations accordingly.
  • Speak and participate at conferences and forums where this will benefit the Development objectives of the Group.
  • Take the lead in establishing great and positive relationships with the country’s relevant Governmental and NGO bodies.
  • Significantly contribute to the Group’s efforts to comply with all relevant Laws and Regulations of the Country and its relevant authorities and act as a good corporate citizen.

Other Responsibilities

  • Supports the Mission, Purpose and Values of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group.
  • Complies with all relevant Workplace Safety & Health practices and maintains a safe workplace for all associates.
  • Adheres to grooming and hygiene standards set by the Hotel.
  • Exercises responsible behaviour at all times to uphold the image and reputation of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Hotel and department.
  • Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Person:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in property development with prior experience and a proven track record of closing deals
  • Possess a Degree in business, real estate or related
  • Has existing market relationships in Asia/Pacific, with Owners, Consultants, Lawyers, brokers and advisory Real Estate investment firms
  • Has a strong track record of managing and maintaining diverse relationships, i.e. Management Company, Owners and local regulatory authorities, statutory boards, as well as local communities
  • Has detailed knowledge of property Management and Franchise Agreements and the development process
  • A strong communicator with the ability to impact and influence others professional and senior executives. This includes a proven ability to make and defend recommendations
  • Demonstrates drive and determination to achieve results and to close transactions
  • A strong Conceptual Thinker with intellectual capacity to think laterally and create solutions to challenges that arise in negotiations
  • An effective Relationship Builder who enjoys building and maintaining key business relationships with high level industry executives in a way that benefits the Group
  • Flexible and adaptable to change and able to work with a diverse range of people both internally and externally
  • Possess excellent presentation skills as he/she will be one of PPHG’s development senior spokespersons to further enhance the Groups brand and reputation
  • A Self-starter and hands-on
  • Ability to speak or converse in one or more Asian languages in addition to English would be desirable.
