About the Role

The Head of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) is responsible for leading and managing the organization's strategy and program to prevent, detect, and respond to financial crime risks, including money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions violations, fraud, bribery and corruption.

Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement the organization’s Financial Crime Compliance framework.
  • Lead the FCC team, providing strategic direction and operational oversight.
  • Advise various stakeholders including senior management and the board on financial crime risks and compliance issues across different topics such as new product offering or client onboarding.
  • Lead the committee meetings and ensure timely updates on critical matters.

2. Program Management

  • Design and oversee the AML/CTF, sanctions, anti-bribery & corruption (ABC), and fraud prevention programs.
  • Ensure robust policies, procedures, and controls are in place and regularly updated.
  • Oversee FCC topics including advisory on FCC risks, customer due diligence (CDD/KYC), transaction monitoring, investigations, and suspicious transaction reporting.
  • Collaborate with and advise relevant stakeholders for continuous improvement on AML-related processes and system enhancements

3. Regulatory Compliance

  • Serve as the principal point of contact with regulators and law enforcement agencies for FCC matters.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving laws and regulations related to financial crime and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Coordinate audits, regulatory inspections, and risk assessments.

4. Training & Culture

  • Drive a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct across the business.
  • Develop and implement FCC-related training for staff at all levels.

5. Risk Assessment & Reporting

  • Conduct periodic financial crime risk assessments.
  • Provide regular reporting to executive leadership and the board on FCC program effectiveness and emerging risks.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial crime compliance within banking, financial services, or fintech.
  • Deep knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., AML/CFT, Sanctions regulations, and Proliferation financing).
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory environments and cross-border compliance issues.
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g., CAMS, CFE, ICA, CRCM).
  • Proven experience managing high-performing compliance teams.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
