A leading educational sports institution in Singapore is seeking a Basketball Program Manager to lead the design and delivery of the basketball programs, focusing on both 3x3 and 5v5 formats. The ideal candidate will have extensive coaching experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to developing youth athletes. Responsibilities include overseeing athlete development, managing a coaching team, and collaborating with national sports authorities. The role requires knowledge of Long-Term Athlete Development principles and successful athlete transitions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years coaching experience at professional, national youth or equivalent elite academy level.
  • Track record of developing youth athletes to national/international standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Long-Term Athlete Development and FIBA 3x3/5v5 competitions.

Responsibilities

Job description

Lead the design, delivery, and long-term development for both 3x3 (priority) and 5v5 basketball. You will manage a team of coaches and assistant coaches, develop student-athletes holistically, and align all efforts with the school’s vision, LTAD principles, and national sporting objectives. Reporting to Programme Director and indirect report to Director, Sports of Singapore Sports School, you will oversee 2 Coaches and 2 Assistant Coaches, and partner with the Head Coach of National 3x3 Programme.

1. Student-Athlete Development & Programme Management
  • Oversee the long-term development of student-athletes across 3x3 and 5v5 formats, integrating LTAD and best practices in youth sport.
  • Lead the development of the Yearly Planning Instrument (YPI), ensuring age- and level-appropriate training plans.
  • Supervise training and competition planning for all U19 athletes, including periodisation, load management, and dual-format readiness.
  • Ensure the integration of sport science, medicine, and performance analytics into programme design and delivery.
  • Establish athlete monitoring, assessment tools, and feedback mechanisms to track progression.
2. Strategic Leadership of the Academy
  • Shape and champion the shared vision and direction of the basketball academy in alignment with the school’s mission.
  • Collaborate with School Management and General Manager of NYDP to formulate and review annual workplans.
  • Mentor and support the growth of all coaches in the NYDP through structured professional development plans.
  • Foster a positive and growth-oriented climate within the academy.
3. Partnership & Communication
  • Engage regularly with HPSI and relevant NSAs to enhance the integration of sports science and ensure alignment with national talent pipeline strategies.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, academic staff, and support personnel to ensure the holistic management of student-athletes.
  • Build strong partnerships with MOE, ActiveSG, FIBA-endorsed pathways, and relevant basketball stakeholders.
4. Supporting National 3x3 (Priority) and 5v5 Systems
  • Work in close partnership with the Head Coach of the National 3x3 Programme to ensure athlete transition readiness.
  • Support national-level initiatives including hosting regional development camps, talent ID clinics, and serving as a coach educator where appropriate.
  • Position the school as a strategic training centre for national youth teams.
5. Project Management and School Contributions
  • Lead and coordinate Academy projects such as Learn-To-Play and collaborative sport science research with HPSI.
  • Support and participate in school-wide initiatives and contribute to the wider school community.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years coaching experience at professional, national youth or equivalent elite academy level.
  • Track record of developing youth athletes to national/international standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Long-Term Athlete Development and FIBA 3x3/5v5 competitions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to balance athlete well-being, academic commitments, and elite training demands.
  • Coaching certification in FIBA/NCAP Level 3 or equivalent is required.
