This role is accountable for the APAC P&L and for developing and executing the regional commercial strategy and mid-term plan. It leads the business across a diverse and dynamic region, including countries like Australia, India, and Southeast Asia, as well as select partner markets. As a member of the International Markets Leadership Team (IMLT), the position contributes to shaping and delivering the overall divisional strategy. Key responsibilities include driving performance, managing operational risks, and fostering talent development across the region.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Degree level education (MBA preferred)
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry with geographical knowledge of APAC countries
• General Management experience
• Proven ability to lead and motivate teams effectively
• Deep understanding of key business issues within the pharma industry

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the annual APAC business plan and mid-term strategy, collaborating closely with country GMs and stakeholders to navigate diverse regulatory, cultural, and economic landscapes
• Ensure delivery of the APAC P&L and Balanced Scorecard, monitor performance at the country level, and provide strategic guidance to GMs on resource allocation and risk mitigation
• Oversee approximately 350 employees in the Commercial organization and around 480 employees across the region, supporting the growth of APAC as a significant part of the International Markets business
• Coordinate support from global and regional matrix teams to enable operational excellence and strategic execution
• Lead the APAC cross-functional leadership team, align stakeholders, and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture that promotes employee engagement and talent development
• Contribute to shaping divisional strategy and policies as part of the IMLT, championing Astellas' Values and Behaviors
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external standards, working closely with legal, regulatory, medical, HR, and other functional partners
• Assume legal and fiduciary responsibilities where applicable within the region
