Main Purpose of Job
- The Global Accounting and Tax Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing and managing global accounting and tax planning activities, working in close partnership with Yanmar Holdings (YHD) Finance Division.
- This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality, efficiency, and compliance of accounting and tax practices across the Group.
- The position will focus on strengthening the capabilities of accounting and tax personnel, ensuring timely and accurate financial consolidation, driving tax efficiency, and leading strategic initiatives that support the Group’s long-term business objectives and transformation agenda.
- This role also plays a key part in shaping future-ready accounting and tax functions through standardization, regulatory compliance readiness and business support, including M&A and turnaround efforts.
Responsibilities
- Lead the seamless Transition to IFRS: Serve as the key contact for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) compliance. Guide regional subsidiaries through the transition process, coordinate with consultants and auditors, and track progress to ensure timely implementation.
- Support CSRD Audits including obtaining Third-Party Assurance: Support the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) audit process by managing sustainability reporting, collaborating with regional teams, obtaining third-party assurance, and ensuring timely, accurate compliance.
- Provide training to Align and Elevate Accounting and Tax Capabilities: Design and implement training programs to enhance the accounting and tax expertise of personnel in regional subsidiaries, focusing on IFRS, tax compliance, and financial reporting best practices.
- Standardize Process to Ensure Timely Period-End Closure: Oversee the standardization of accounting processes across subsidiaries to ensure efficient financial closes. Drive system and process improvements for greater efficiency.
- Manage Tax Planning and Cost Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement tax strategies for the regional subsidiaries to optimize costs while ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations. Identify opportunities for tax savings.
- Support in the Development of Accounting and Tax Regulations: Create or refine accounting and tax policies to ensure consistency in the regional subsidiaries and compliance with local regulations.
- Offer Accounting and Tax support for M&A targets: Provide accounting and tax support for M&A activities and other key business transactions, ensuring smooth integration and adherence to group policies.
- Provide Management Support for Regional Subsidiaries facing Impairment Risks: Work closely with regional subsidiaries showing signs of impairment by providing strategic advice, conducting impairment testing, collaborating with business units and preparing necessary reports for senior management.
- Promote Communication and Collaboration: Foster cross-regional communication and collaboration among regional teams. Promote a consistent corporate culture by ensuring alignment on key accounting and tax issues and sharing best practices.
- Champion Digital Transformation and Tax Technology Adoption: Champion the adoption of digital tools and automation in accounting and tax processes, including ERP enhancement, RPA and tax technology platforms to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Leverage Data Analytics to provide Finance and Tax Insights: Utilize data analytics to generate actionable financial and tax insights, supporting management decision-making and enhancing business strategy planning at the regional and group level.
- Business Partnering and Strategic Finance Advisory: Act as a strategic finance and tax advisor to regional subsidiaries, contributing to key investment, expansion and restructuring decisions. Play an active role in transformation and long-term planning initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- The Global Accounting and Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing global accounting and tax activities for the regional teams.
- Provide coaching / mentoring and support to the accounting and tax members in the region to enhance their skill and professional development.
- Manage performance by setting clear goals, following up and providing ongoing feedback to subordinates on their performance progress.

Knowledge and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or related field in Finance. CA is preferred.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in finance and accounting, including tax, with sound strategic planning and management experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in APAC with multinational organizations, particularly Japanese MNCs.
- Good knowledge of financial and accounting, tax regulatory compliance in Global.
- Experience in M&A, including acquisition, spin-out, redeployment, and merger.
- Strong people management and leadership skill / experience.
- Prior experience in Manufacturing or Machinery Industry will be an added advantage.
