Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a General Ledger (GL) Accountant in Singapore to maintain accurate accounting records and support month-end and year-end close activities.

The role involves reconciliations, tax compliance, and maintaining finance systems to ensure transactions align with company policies and accounting standards. You will perform journal entries and accruals, supporting schedules, and investigate discrepancies while ensuring audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems.

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, preparing reconciliations, assisting with tax and statutory compliance, maintaining finance systems and ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

What You Will Do

General Ledger Accounting & Month-End Close

• Prepare journal entries, accruals and supporting schedules.
• Perform balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, working papers and audit-ready documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and system-related issues.

Tax, Statutory Compliance & Audit Support

• Prepare GST/VAT returns and supporting schedules.
• Support corporate tax filings, statutory reporting and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with e-invoicing administration and compliance documentation.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor and tax agent requests.
• Ensure accounting records comply with company policies and local regulations.

Regional Financial Operations & Expense Management

• Support day-to-day finance operations and accounting transactions across multiple legal entities and countries.
• Support customer invoicing and revenue-related accounting activities.
• Review employee expense claims and ensure accurate GL coding.
• Administer and maintain expense management processes, including Concur.

Controls & Process Documentation

• Support account analysis, variance investigations and reconciliations.
• Follow established internal controls and highlight identified control gaps.
• Maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures and supporting records.

Systems Support & Continuous Improvement

• Support ERP, Concur and finance system testing, implementation and enhancements.
• Assist with data cleanup, standardisation and reporting improvement initiatives.
• Participate in finance integration activities and process improvement projects.
• Work closely with the COE on finance transformation initiatives, including strategy alignment, process standardisation and operating model improvements.
• Support the development of reports and tools that improve accounting accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform other ad hoc accounting, compliance, reporting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance or related discipline.
• Min. 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Good understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, GST/VAT and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet reporting deadlines.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.

• This position requires working onsite five days a week.
